SMTD has partnered with the Gershwin family to bring the music of George and Ira Gershwin to students, scholars, performers and audiences across campus and worldwide.
A variety of degree programs allow students to increase their academic options by either enrolling in the Bachelor of Musical Arts or Theatre Arts degrees, or by choosing a dual-degree program with another school or college within the University.
When I visited U-M, I went to the Composition Seminar class. I heard faculty pieces, and I was blown away by the range of voices in the department. Now I study with Professor Bright Sheng. I like that we talk about culture—he's given me a perspective of a bigger picture. The people in the studio are so kind and open; it's a very community-based feel. It's so inspiring.
