A group of jazz percussion student will spend spring break in Cuba, for a week of study and performance with Cuban musicians and students, as well as an immersive exploration of Cuban culture and history.
SMTD has partnered with the Gershwin family to bring the music of George and Ira Gershwin to students, scholars, performers and audiences across campus and worldwide.

Performing Arts Technology students participate in a wide range of University and student organizations across campus. The following is a small list of some of these organizations.
Audio Engineering Society (AES) - The AES Student Section at U-M is geared toward the diffusion and increase of educational and scientific knowledge in audio engineering, the stimulation of interest in audio engineering, and the promotion and maintenance of high professional standards among its members. Arts Enterprise - an interdisciplinary club that caters to the needs of students in the Ross School of Business, the School of Music, Theatre & Dance and other students throughout the University.
Basement Arts - student run theatre productions.
GROOVE - a multi-talented group of high energy musicians and artists drawn together for one reason: the love of banging things!
M-agination Films - an opportunity for students outside of the film school to write, direct, edit, and produce their own or other student's work.
MUSKET - the only completely student-run musical theatre troupe on campus.
Penny Stamps Speaker Series - the Speaker Series brings respected emerging and established artists/designers from a broad spectrum of media to the School to conduct a public lecture and engage with students, faculty, and the larger University and Ann Arbor communities.
UMS - one of the oldest performing arts presenters in the country, UMS is committed to connecting audiences with performing artists from around the world in uncommon and engaging experiences.
